Subway Closes in Bath, ME - June 2024
Переглядів 8216 годин тому
Condemned by the city, the popular sandwich chain has closed unexpectedly and seemingly overnight. It's hard to say what's going on behind the paper in the windows, but something tells me this is game over for the business. Feel free to contribute any information you may have on the closing. Exploring new Housing Complex & former YMCA (with rooftop views) - Bath, ME (June 2024)
Переглядів 3216 годин тому
While visiting a friend of mine who recently moved into the building, I took the opportunity to finally see the interior, new gym inside the former YMCA with really great rooftop views of the library, waterfront and old town. I think they did a great job making it a nice place to live for the new tenants. Modern Nostalgia June 2024

Ya never know what you'll find in the urban forests behind major shopping centers...very reminiscent of the woods behind Safeway in Eureka. Tiny Historic Cemetery on Hot Summer Day - Bath, ME
Переглядів 4121 годину тому
It was a sweltering 93 degrees when i stumbled upon this tiny historic graveyard in the center of town. This one has stones from the 1800s including one from a Revolutionary War soldier in the late 1700s. Some of the stones are leaning moreso than others, but still a cool little pitstop. If you know the name of this cemetery, please share below / music by Hysterla Modern Nostalgia June 2024

❤ This town!
Nice!
Yep Very Cool!
I love the wind - especially when say through a grove of towering pine trees in early spring...
I used to live in Woolwich when I was stationed at Brunswick NAS, loved it there.
This brings back good childhood memories for me. My Grandfather Frank used to own this place. Upstairs were apartments where family members used to live. Thanks for posting.
I ate here many times. I grew up in Augusta but I haven’t been home in about 15 years. I’m sad to hear it’s closed.
Sunflowers happen to be my favorite flower, btw. I'm having a Scandinavian designer, who lives in Italy design up my company's website illustrations and we're trying to work in Mediterranean vibes in the design, making sure to include sunflowers and lemons. Can't wait to hear the album when it's ready.
Is the fishing good in Maine?
I have friends and acquaintances that seem to do pretty well in Phippsburg and Georgetown. Not sure what kind of fish they're catching though
My mother used to own the house next door to the one that is for sale, 903 High Street. It had been passed down through 4 generations. Unfortunately, she sold it in the 1990's after my father passed away. She sold it to some very nice people who completely renovated the interior, which was needed badly.
i work 2 mile from this place i wish it was open....
💗A great tour!
Thanks for sharing ~ Brings back many a fond memory ❤
correction: speed is between 28-45 depending on conditions (i would not recommend going any faster that 28 mph) / weighs around 45-50 lbs
P.S. I just tracked down your scooter's website, and they have all the info I need...
Before they built the current Sagadahoc bridge, I remember driving across the old Carlton bridge and always thought it was scary. It was 2 lane road and there was a section that didn't have pavement and was just metal grating.
i always wondered about that old bridge, maybe i'll do a video just on it. yea i bet it was scary to drive on it. those old bridges are kinda spooky too
Oh, NO!
Really curious about this one
My nephew and his wife are both registered architects and loved visiting Bath and admiring the variety & examples of all these historic old homes. More "Scooter Series," Bo? Take care...
Awesome spot Bo 😎
Thank you Nick! Hyde is like a college campus, it's huge
just curious.... Is the tiny house on High Street at the intersection of Green Street? If it is, my family used to own the house 2 doors down toward oak street.
yep that's it. i vaguely remember an old house with green shutters that had little trees on them. is that the one?
@@Modern_Nostalgia yes, it was a rather smallish house 1 1/2 or 2 story White with green shutters. It had been abandoned for years and I think toward the end it looked rather grey instead of white. It was finally condemned and torn down about a year ago.
I was going to ask if you were on a bike, but saw you were on a scooter? Beautiful area!
New E-Scooter, loads of fun!
I'm not into music, therefore i never listen to it,but this is beautiful. Though I'm not so sure, are you the creator?
Thank you so much!
A tree almost fell on me here friends died corona but great weather nice and quiet
Those scenes looking out your window I presume remind me of scenes out of movies. Very Cool!
Thank you Vickie!
Wow that is sad! Beautiful building!
That was neat to see all the insides of those buildings. I live in town and have been in the main creamery building before but never saw inside the others before. Very interesting and to think of its history especially when the train was going through town. I miss the train. And then having the movie made there. Thanks again.
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed the rare interior perspectives!
Glad they are at least using the land for housing and childcare for the workers
Exactly, I'm glad to see it'll be used for something other than extra parking. Still wish they could at least preserve part of the church building
That's a tragedy
I want to do that
A little planning, reliable wheels & lots of coffee!
Very, very cool! Hope your able to find a harness, or helmet rig for your camera so we can go cruising around town! Love all the lighting, the colors, and especially how quiet it is...!
Absolutely!
Really enjoyed seeing the American Civil War monument all decorated with the flags, thanks...
Hey Dave thanks! It's a bummer i missed a lot of the parade bcuz i was at work. Good times
Drove 750 miles to indianapolis to get totality- was beautiful.
Very cool!
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halfway_Rock_Light
Ahhh thank you for satisfying my curiosity about that lighthouse!
I hate to tell you, but it's sold out. Can't speak to the $600 asking price. Might be worth it, but I bought a 2002 Jetta wagon for $1000 and I have been drinking it for two years.
Well the nice thing about the scooter is that I could prob sell it for what I paid, use today that money to help invest in a cheap set of wheels which is my plan for the fall but we'll see
@@Modern_Nostalgia Scooters are great. Been thinking about getting one. Would save a lot of money. You should talk to the local energy authority and see if they offer vouchers for a discount.
Definitely on my list
My grandparents were the original owners. Grandfather is no longer living! But my grandma who always ran the whole laundromat and convenience store is, and she’s just as fit as she was then.
Check them out now
It’s a pretty place!
Just looking through some of your older postings. The main house, is in the Greek Revival style and looks like it had a couple of additions on the sides. There are a ton of Greek Revival homes in Bath. It was a very popular style from the 1840's through the 1860's. The out building is the barn. The main level would have had the horse and carriage and possibly a workshop. The upstairs would have been the hay loft. and the downstairs could have been the kitchen for the original house. Kitchens would have typically been a separate building or in the basement of the main house during that time period.
Great history, thanks for sharing!
This is the best time of year to go to Popham. Before the tourists and mosquito's show up for summer....lol.
Got ran into the ground after Bob Rogers and Heather Pitcher got their hands on it. It was a shame when Mary Lou owned it. Bob’s first wife. Everybody wanted to go there. After he took it over, totally fell apart. Now it’s just sitting there rotting apart.
It almost looked like my car. I went to kohls today and did a return and now with bed bath and beyond closed our mall looks pretty sad.
End of an era!
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍3
Thanks!
I would love it if the Amtrack's Downeaster would go all the way to Bath. Right now it ends in Brunswick. I know it's only 15 miles away, but still. Or, Maine could do what North Carolina did and have a regional state train to complete the line. Go from Portland along the coast to Acadia National park.
April in North Carolina has been cooler and drier than normal. Most days we had low 60's F for highs. It should be mid 70's F. We only had 3 days of rain. May is starting out hot. May 2, 2024 High in Greensboro was 89 F.
Dang, quite a contrast from April to May. Thanks for sharing and stay cool!
LA is now one big mess of drug induced problems matched to a tax structure driving 3rd generation people out. Industry continues to evaporate, cities cheer when they attract a gas station or bank. Average household income is poverty level. Sad what a continuous liberal structure has done in the past twenty years too what used to be a vibrant community with promises.
You nailed it.
Yeah...so...the short story is that this was my Dad's place from the 70's till he passed away in 2011...place is in disrepair because it is stuck in trust that is locked down by his Widow and the attorneys. Not sure if it was bought from William's Grandparents as I noted his comment below...the Freeway was in when it was purchased by my parents. The spring still feeds the cabins with the water. Sad state of affairs as the place was a treasure and could be again if we could only extract it from probate. We have tried and thrown money at this problem but to no avail.
Anyway you'd be willing to connect? I just relocated back to the area and have been drawn to this place over and over again. I've done some research and randomly decided to youtube search it tonight. Pretty cool you just commented on it a few days ago...
i have lived in Humboldt for almost 30 years. I work about 2 miles away from this beauty. It is enchanted and slowly being grown over. serene . i can check in and make sure all is well if you want. i have peered over the rope blocking the entrance and wondered what happened good luck disentangling the finances!!
Purchased by BIW and scheduled for demolition within the next several years.
Wow that looks so relaxing compared to my branch in Norfolk Virginia. On an average day (especially during the summer months) we’ll get about 600-700 dirty cars to clean. We have zero shade and work in the blazing hot sun over asphalt all summer long and pouring down rain and everything. It’s insanely stressful and the managers honestly bully employees and threaten to fire anyone who doesn’t clean a minimum of 25 cars per day while maintaining a audit score of at least 95% or higher. Equipment frequently breaks, most cars are covered with trash inside that customers left behind, the workplace culture is toxic and oppressive with zero room for advancement all while we’re underpaid and treated like slaves. It’s very cutthroat and unethical. I really need to either transfer to a new branch or just find something else.
Not all locations are the same for sure! Hopefully you'll find a better location to work. I've seen some pretty decent ones and vice-versa
Beautiful video. Thank you for sharing. subd & 👍4
